My wife and me stayed with Sam So and is lovely family in early March 2013. This first night was a challenge since all Siem Reap was without electricity, and their emergency power supply was able to provide power for the absolutely required services only - that did not include air condition. However, on the 2nd day all services were up and running and we had the privilege of receiving "first class" services from everyone at the guesthouse.
To us it is still an unforgettable experience being guests of Sam So and his family and staff, and if ever we return to Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor - be assured we are certainly going to stay with Sam So and family !!!

I don’t even know where to begin. First let me explain my reasons for being in Cambodia and why I chose Sam So guesthouse. I am in a club called GlobeMed at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Throughout the year, we raise funds to support the Build Your Future Today Center (BFT) which is less than one mile away. We stayed at the guesthouse for a total of five weeks and let me tell you… It was AWESOME. I know most of you will be staying there for shorter amounts of time but if you have extra time, STAY HERE! Six of us stayed at the guesthouse and by the 3rd week we were basically part of the family. Sam So gave us a discounted rate because of the length of our stay. We also rented bicycles from there for the entire month. Sam So truly puts Quality over anything in his business. We had many talks about how he runs it and I was very impressed by his tenacity and genuine care for his customers. One example of this quality of service occurred when one girl in our group got sick. Sam So got very worried and took care of her; he would bring water and send staff to check on her regularly. He also cooked food and sent it up to her to ensure she didn’t have to get up to get anything. On another occasion one of my friends got in a motorcycle accident (his fault) and got a bad cut on his leg. Sam So came into our room, worried as could be, to bandage him up. The next day he even gave my friend a ride to work because he knew that he could not ride a bike. All these minor details truly paid off and I will be returning multiple times to Cambodia and no matter how rich I get in my life, I will always stay there. Sam So is also a very knowledgeable guy, he spent month in Italy and can speak Italian, Spanish, English and Khmer. The breakfast is also very good for being included in the price of the stay. I had five weeks to find a defect with his business or a bad experience and I never actually found anything but a new family in Cambodia. THAT’S how good it is. Also, if you have any further questions I will be glad to speak on behalf of my stay there just email me at davidzor@gmail.com. Don’t hesitate! Sam So will be a great experience for you!

It was my first out-of-the-country tour and Cambodia being the first on my list due to the Angkor Wat made me feel excited but anxious at the same time because of the place where I can stay. It was the best decision to choose Sam So Guesthouse. They are really your "home away from home"
They will arrange everything for you, tours, tuktuk service, bus transportation. Everything will be done right of your eyes. And rates are reasonable as well. Mr. and Mrs. Sam So is very accomodating as well. When I will be visiting Siem Reap again, I will definitely stay at Sam So Guesthouse and recommend it to my friends.

Customer : We had a very comfortable three-nights-stay at Sam so Guesthouse in April 2011. Sam So arranged our pick up from the airport. Sam So and his wife have been very friendly and did everything to make our Stay very enjoyable. As we stayed over cambodian new year, Sam So invited us to a bear. We honestly can recommend a stay at Sam So Guesthouse and we will come back on our next trip to cambodia! We had a very comfortable three-nights-stay at Sam so Guesthouse in April 2011. Hello everybody!
We just wanted to say that Sam So Guesthouse really is the best!
Me and my partner (30 and 38 years old) stayed with mr. Sam So and his family for 6 nights, from March 11th till March 17th 2011, so very recently.
We only have nice and positive things to say about our experience over there.
We booked our room through the internet, just the day before arriving and we immediately got a reply via email, which was really great.
We arrived in Siem Reap by bus from Battambang and the guesthouse offered us free pick-up from the busstop. As our bus was a bit delayed, the tuk-tukdriver, I believe it was mr. Lai, had to wait, but that was no problem at all. He was so very friendly!
And let me tell you that it is a really good service to have a driver waiting for you when you come to Siem Reap, because the city is so big and busy...
When we came to the guesthouse we were pleasantly surprised by its exact location. Its just outside the city centre, across the river from the old market, in a quiet area. So at night you can sleep like a rose, but if you want to go to all the markets and the cafés/restaurants, you only have to walk for like 6 minutes or so.
The room we had was the best. We have been travelling for 7 weeks and it really was the best room we had during our trip. Because there was no more double room available (which they told us when we made our reservation, so we knew this), we could have a twin room with separate beds. But these beds were so big and comfortable, you could easily sleep with two people in one bed. The pillows are so soft, I slept like a baby for the first time during our trip!
The bathroom is big enough with a nice hotwater-shower, a clean toilet and washing bassin.
And you know what the best thing was? Every day the rooms are cleaned! You get new bedsheets, fresh towels, new soap, toothbrushes and shampoo...
That was also the first time we had this during our trip all throughout Laos and Cambodia.
The room also had a TV that worked flawlessly with some moviechannels which showed the latest English-spoken movies.
And what makes the experience so unforgettable for us personnally: the kindness and warmth of Mr. Sam So, his wife, family and staff. Every time you see them, they start talking to you as if you are a part of the family. You instantly become very happy!
To conclude, we can only say this: If you are going to Siem Reap, stay at Sam So guesthouse! The quality of the service far outreaches the price and you really feel loved!
To Mr. Sam So, his wife, family and staff, we want to say: Thank you so very much for everything, you are friends for life. We enjoyed our stay so much, we definitely want to come back! All the best!

Thank you Sam So, your family and staff for making my partner and I feel so at home during our stay with you last week. It was especially significant for me as I arrived feeling very unwell after a long bus ride, and you and your staff offered their immediate concern and support. Your beautiful clean room and quiet household were a sanctuary in the middle of our busy and exciting holiday adventure! It was wonderful to be greeted each day by your smiling face and those of your warm and generous family and staff.
Your guesthouse is so conveniently located near many small cafes, restaurants and supermarkets so we were easily able to obtain cheap meals and necessities. Siem Reap is a beautiful city- and we so enjoyed being able to just simply walk up the road and across the bridges into the heart of town where the markets and restaurants were buzzing with life. We didnt want to leave- and we look forward to coming back another day to enjoy more of the sights including the Tonle Sap River, to have more time at Angkor Wat, explore the countryside and get to know more of the local people and their culture. We will recommend you and your hospitality to everyone we know that are coming your way. Best wishes and blessings from us both , Linda and John : e-mail:redboots4@bigpond.com
